Hanwha Aerospace is a trusted partner to Norway, delivering K9 and K10 artillery systems since the contract in 2017. The Hanwha-made K239 Chunmoo Long-range Precision Fire system will further give Norwegian joint and land forces a credible long-range fire capability. The system will be integrated into the joint fire planning cycle, giving operational commanders a flexible, on-demand weapons system ready to engage a broad set of targets.

Superior Firepower

The K239 Chunmoo is a fully developed system operational in the Korean Army since 2015. The Chunmoo delivers a full range of rockets and missiles. The Twin POD system enables the launcher to carry and fire different missiles from the same vehicle, increasing operational flexibility and reducing the need for reloading and logistic support. The firing ranges meet Norwegian expectations for a next-generation long-range artillery system.

Unmatched Commitment

The Chunmoo system is in full production in Korea. Launchers and missiles are delivered to domestic and international customers. Poland has ordered 289 systems, and the first delivery was made only 12 months after contract signing. An initial number of launchers and missiles will be produced in Korea, while a production facility will be established in Poland. A full-range production capability in Poland will secure a European footprint for the Chunmoo and increase the security of supply for European users.

Full flexibility

The Chunmoo long-range precision fire can be delivered “off the shelf”. However, the system has an open architecture, enabling easy integration of missiles from different missile houses. The system can also be integrated into different vehicles based on the user's requirements.

Based on Hanwha’s unique development capabilities and technological expertise, built over a long period of time, the company has been able to launch a solid line-up of weapons systems designed to deal with all battlefield conditions, from the ground to the air, developing, producing, and delivering military systems around the glove.

Norway first accepted Hanwha as a partner for the Norwegian Army while procuring new field artillery from Korea. Hanwha responded by delivering and supporting K9 and K10 artillery system to Norway. As part of this, a Centre of Excellence was established in North Norway to secure further development and sustainment of a new and valuable asset for the Army. Today, the K9 and K10 constitute the principal fire support system for the Norwegian land forces.

The new Norwegian long-term defense plan stated the need for long-range precision fires for the Army. Hanwha has responded to this by answering the RFI published by the Norwegian Defense Material Agency. The Korean K239 Chunmoo MLRS system will respond to Norway’s requirements. The system is under production with a short delivery time and a full system support concept available for Norway.
